Psalm 32: “The Joy of Forgiveness”

‭Psalm 32 is my FAVORITE because I have experienced these words very personally, during my encounter at a Deeper Still retreat.

I realize now, after leaving that place radically transformed in just a short weekend, that very few TRULY comprehend the weight of this because they have never experienced true freedom or even realize that they need it.

It feels impossible to adequately describe the depth of forgiveness & pure joy that alters every intricate piece of who you are as you’re set free , but this Psalm is a beautiful glimpse!

Friends – THIS is what Jesus died for!

I know how deceptive shame is & I know it seems easier to pretend it’s not there, especially when those speaking of freedom tend to skip over the ugly, “taboo” harshness of words like, “ABORTION”, “INFIDELITY”, “ADDICTION”, or “PORNOGRAPHY”, to name a few….but please understand that just because others avoid saying it out loud, does NOT mean that it’s too dirty for God!

There is NO unpardonable sin & you can go to the alter 1000 times & pray powerful, eloquent prayers over the things that are essentially just the “symptoms” of shame…but until you surrender the darkest parts & expose the root of your shame, you will only continue to wrestle with those “symptoms”. I know, because I did the same thing!

By the way, He already knows it all & is just waiting for you to release it!

As you read the words of Psalm 32, I pray that you will meditate on them. Study them & allow yourself to read them as a Promise that is FOR YOU!

If you need freedom, please speak up.

Maybe abortion isn’t your root, just know that there are countless ministries & resources for whatever yours may be…& Let this be the sign that nudges you today.

It’s time.

Psalm 32“[1] How joyful is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered! [2] How joyful is a person whom the Lord does not charge with iniquity and in whose spirit is no deceit! [3] When I kept silent, my bones became brittle from my groaning all day long. [4] For day and night your hand was heavy on me; my strength was drained as in the summer’s heat. Selah

[5] Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not conceal my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” and you forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah

[6] Therefore let everyone who is faithful pray to you immediately. When great floodwaters come, they will not reach him. [7] You are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble. You surround me with joyful shouts of deliverance. Selah

[8] I will instruct you and show you the way to go; with my eye on you, I will give counsel. [9] Do not be like a horse or mule, without understanding, that must be controlled with bit and bridle or else it will not come near you. [10] Many pains come to the wicked, but the one who trusts in the Lord will have faithful love surrounding him. [11] Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, you righteous ones; shout for joy, all you upright in heart.”

* “Selah” – indicates a pause in the text. It is a synonym of Hebrew words that mean “forever.” Selah is a derivative of the Hebrew root salal (note the s and l), which means to “raise voices in praise” or “make the instruments louder.”

It was first described to me as a musical term, prompting a reflective pause. An appreciation for the verse & the gratitude expressed.

It’s also one of my favorite words. ☺️

May today be the day you set aside any false pretense about religion or some points system categorizing sin, and make the decision to surrender the shame & experience the Joy of Freedom in Christ!

It’s time.

Selah. 💕
